Pets stay at no charge — no deposit, no breed restriction and no per-night surcharge — and the hosts live upstairs with their own dog, so an animal in the building is normal rather than tolerated. Forest trails start within a short walk of the door. One thing worth knowing before you plan around on-base lodging: USAG Rheinland-Pfalz states that pets are not accepted as a reason to be issued a Statement of Non-Availability, and on-base pet units are limited — so travelling with an animal does not by itself open the door to reimbursed off-base lodging.
Not the right fit if you need a fenced private garden, or step-free access you have not been able to verify — ask about the layout before booking rather than assuming. And there is only one apartment here: when the dates are taken, they are taken.

Between vet paperwork, import requirements, a long flight in cargo, and a new country full of unfamiliar smells, moving a pet overseas is its own project on top of your actual PCS. The last thing you need on arrival is a lodging option that treats your dog or cat as a line item — a deposit here, a surcharge there, a list of banned breeds you have to check against.
Mumo's Inn doesn't do any of that. No pet deposit. No extra fee. No breed restrictions. Your pet is welcome the same way the rest of your family is welcome — because for most guests, that's exactly what they are.
On-base lodging does allow pets, but it's capped at two per unit — so if you're traveling with a bigger crew, or arriving when the pet-friendly units are already full, that's a legitimate reason to look off-base. If that's your situation, the on-base Lodging Office can issue a Statement of Non-Availability so your stay with us is still reimbursed at your TLA rate.

Boris & the Atzel Neighborhood
Boris is the hosts' own dog, and he lives right upstairs with the family. He's known for taking guest dogs under his wing while their owners are settling in or off running PCS errands — one more small thing that makes an unfamiliar place feel a little less unfamiliar.
The Atzel neighborhood itself borders the Palatinate forest — quiet residential streets and wooded trails within a few minutes' walk. It's a genuinely good place to walk a dog: calm traffic, green space, and none of the noise of a hotel parking lot or an Autobahn-adjacent lodging strip.

Is there a pet deposit or extra fee at Mumo's Inn?
No deposit, no extra fee, no breed restrictions. Well-behaved dogs, cats, and other pets are simply part of the stay.
Are there walking areas near the apartment?
Yes — the Atzel neighborhood in Landstuhl is quiet and residential, bordering the Palatinate forest. There are plenty of calm streets and forest trails within a few minutes' walk, good for a morning routine or a decompressing evening walk after a long PCS day.
What breeds are welcome?
All well-behaved pets, no breed restrictions. If you have a specific concern about your pet's size, temperament, or needs, message us on WhatsApp before booking and we'll talk it through.
Do you have your own pet at the apartment?
Yes — Boris, the hosts' dog, lives with the family upstairs and has a habit of taking guest dogs under his wing while their owners are out for the day.
Is a rental car included if I have pets and need to run errands?
Yes. A complimentary Toyota Yaris Hybrid — insurance included, no deposit, and easy to park — comes with every stay, pets or no pets, so vet visits, pet-store runs, or a longer drive to a bigger park are never a hassle.
Can having a pet get me a Statement of Non-Availability?
No, and it is better to know that now than at the counter. USAG Rheinland-Pfalz states directly that pets will not be accepted as a reason to receive a statement of non-availability, and that the number of pet-friendly units on base is limited. Bringing a dog is a good reason to prefer staying here; it is not a lever for the paperwork.
