You have a suitcase, a phone with the wrong plug, and a question nobody at the gate can answer: where am I sleeping tonight, and for how many nights?
Non-Medical Attendant travel is authorized case by case — by the patient's command, the medical team, or the patient liaison, under whichever document fits your situation. We are a lodging host, not a travel office, so we will not pretend to know your entitlement. On-Base and Fisher House Come First
We would rather send you somewhere else than have you overpay for a bed you did not need. LRMC has lodging and Fisher House resources on the compound, intended precisely for patients and the families supporting them. When a room is available and you qualify, that is usually the right answer — ask your patient liaison or contact Landstuhl Regional Medical Center directly. Eligibility rules are theirs, they change, and we are not going to summarise them for you and be wrong.
Separately, the KMC runs its own Air Force-managed Temporary Lodging Facilities at Ramstein, Landstuhl and Vogelweh, and per USAG Rheinland-Pfalz they are not automatically open to an attendant either — a reservation needs PCS or TDY orders, tops out at 30 days when space allows, and is never guaranteed, especially in high PCS season.
Off base becomes the answer when those are full, when you do not qualify, or when the medical timeline outruns a 30-day cap. If your travel is reimbursable, you may be asked for a Statement of Non-Availability; you do not need it in hand to reserve with us, and we provide itemized invoices your finance office can process either way.
And the honest limit: Mumo's Inn is one apartment. One booking at a time, no portfolio to shuffle you into. What is a Non-Medical Attendant (NMA)?
An NMA is the person authorized to accompany a patient during medical care — usually a spouse, parent, or another close family member — when the patient needs support that is not clinical. The patient gets treatment; the NMA gets the logistics, the waiting, and the paperwork. Whether your travel is authorized, and under what document, is decided by the patient's command, the medical team, or your patient liaison — not by a lodging website. Confirm it with them before you book flights.
Where do non-medical attendants usually stay at LRMC?
It depends on eligibility as much as availability. LRMC has its own lodging and Fisher House resources, and separately, the KMC runs Air Force-managed Temporary Lodging Facilities at Ramstein, Landstuhl and Vogelweh — but an NMA does not automatically qualify for either, and both fill up regardless. The walk is level ground, not a climb: LRMC sits on the Sickingen-Hoehe plateau above the town, and Mumo's Inn is on that same plateau, in the same Atzel neighbourhood as the hospital's own address. Measured 2026-09-05 against public elevation data, both sit at 354 m, a 0.0% average gradient over 737 m straight line. Lodging in the lower town centre is about 100 m below the hospital, which is why walking up from there is a real climb. For an attendant spending most of the day at a bedside, being able to walk home for an hour and walk back changes the whole shape of the day.
What if the patient's treatment gets extended?
Medical timelines move. There is no fixed checkout here and no 30-day ceiling to work around, so a stay can extend without repacking or renegotiating. Tell us when you know; we will adjust the invoice rather than start a new booking.
I am traveling without a car. Is that a problem?
