What if my TLA stay gets extended — is the car still included?
Yes. As long as you're staying with us, the car stays with you. PCS timelines shift constantly; we don't nickel-and-dime you for it.
Can I drive the loaner car to Ramstein Air Base and back?
That's exactly what it's for. Ramstein Air Base is about 8 km — a 10-minute drive via the L363 — from Mumo's Inn. Guests use the car for the daily commute, the commissary, school drop-offs, and house hunting.
Do I need a special license to drive it in Germany?
License requirements for US personnel stationed in Germany are set by your installation, not by us — confirm what applies to you with your sponsor or unit before you plan to drive. We are a lodging host, not a licensing authority, and this is not something to take on trust from a website.
What if I arrive without wanting to drive at all that day?
Then don't. The train from Frankfurt Airport to Landstuhl runs about two hours with one change on average, and the car will already be waiting at the apartment. Plenty of arrivals are better handled by sleeping first and driving later.

It comes with every stay, not "subject to availability", because there is one apartment and one car. That is the upside of being small — nobody is allocating a fleet across thirty bookings and telling you it did not work out this week.

Driving Here, Honestly
Driving in Germany is not hard, but it is different enough to be worth a paragraph. License requirements for US personnel stationed here are set by your installation, not by us, so confirm what you need with your sponsor or your unit before you plan to drive — that is the one part of this we will not guess at on your behalf.
Once you are cleared: roads around the KMC are well maintained and well signed, the Yaris Hybrid is small enough for village streets that were laid out long before cars, and parking here is free and private, which is not a given in this area. German drivers are fast and rule-bound in equal measure; the lane discipline takes a day to get used to and then feels obvious.
You may also find you drive less than you expected. LRMC is about 850 m away, roughly a 5-minute walk, and Ramstein Air Base is about 8 km, roughly a 10-minute drive. The car earns its place on commissary runs, appointments across town, and weekends — not on the daily walk to the hospital.
If you would rather skip driving on arrival day entirely, you do not have to: the train from Frankfurt Airport takes roughly two hours, usually with one change, and the car will still be there when you are ready for it.
